New page

'''Form'''

For my final project, I will be capturing pictures of billboards throughout LA as well as in Northern California. I will be constantly taking pictures of what I see (I want my life to be immersed in this project) and adding them to an Instagram account with witty captions. As of now, I have decided that the captions are going to be “Troll” captions that exploit the thoughts of advertisers and further reveal characteristics of post-digital / post-lit.

'''Instagram Logistics '''

I’m not sure what my Instagram username will be, nor the title of my page, but I am excited to start. The structure of my Instagram will alternate between Northern California billboards and Southern California billboards, which will hopefully emphasize differences in culture, audience, and society.

'''Relation to the Course'''

My project will reveal a lot about society, specifically our post-digital society. Billboards are post-digital / post-internet not because of its form alone, but because of the combination of social and physical factors. They use images, words, slogans, etc. to reveal a collective culture and an individual's wants yet they also simultaneously engage with the time and space that the billboard AND the viewer are in. I want to explore how the billboard's art, language, and (essence?) makes this form of advertising post-digital.
