Want
A lot of what we do, or maybe everything we do, is a result of want or desire. Christopher Strachey desires his love and wants to emphasize his affection through his "Love Letters." Judd Morrissey wants to illustrate a new way of reading and interaction with a story through "The Jew's Daughter."
People post their work, pictures, stories, ideas, and so forth to many different media outlets because they want to be heard, acknowledged, or merely affect others in some way. We also act certain ways because we want certain things or want to be seen a certain way. We are similar to computers this way. Like the want and desire is programmed in us and the code makes certain it is played out. While the want in all of us may produce beautiful works, innovative ideas, and a happy life, it can also cause problems and destruction. What happens when we can't get or do what we want? Or when what we want does not cooperate with our mind or bodies? There's a glitch in my system. I want to let go, but I can't. I want to forget, but I don't. I want to move on, but I'm stuck. So what am I supposed to do? Can we reprogram ourselves to be different from what we are? Upgrade our system? I suppose this is what reading, listening, and learning does for us...but it is just too slow for my liking. But maybe that's just my desire to grow talking.
