Digital technology
Digital technology--in regards to electronic literature or any type of electronic art for that matter--is compromised and created through the medium of digital technology. Since the creation of digital technology, we have seen a surge of technological improvements for the everyday consumer. With consumers being able to afford the new technology that's being developed and created, this has also led to artist being able to consume these advent of digital tools. Because of this, artist are experimenting with what electronic art/digital art in a rapid pace. In literature in particular, it seems as if its been shifting towards the role of technology as the years advance. You can see this with devices like the Amazon Kindle or Apple's iPad; the form and medium of literature is changing. Because of this, the question of whether electronic literature can be viewed as a serious art form arises. As Toby Altman states in "Paragraphs on Lyric Poetry" he says, " If the text is meant to reside permanently on the computer or network, its placement on the screen or printout is equally important." [[1]]This further purports the importance of the role digital technology comes into play with serous art form. These questions and problems are serious, and will only conjure up serious debates as the advancement of digital technology plays a larger role in our everyday existence.
