My project will be a book of negative comments about women all found on the internet. I have drawn this idea from the article Nora Caplan-Bricker, "The Instagram Hoax That Became An Art World Sensation" (2016) and was inspired by the project that was created using Instagram as a critique of femininity. The comments and responses discussed in the article made me think about the way women are often talked about online, in ways that are gender specific. In doing this I would focus on the republication and platforming of these data trails that have been left for the world to see. By making these comments into something physical I am making a collective piece of different people who appear to share similar views that can be accessed in one place. This was inspired by Omar Kholeif's piece," ed. You Are Here: Art After the Internet "(2014), and his explanation of creating physical book, "Likewise, the question was raised: why a physical book? Why not an e-book, a blog, an application? Ultimately, my argument became this: what about the unconverted? The non-specialized audiences who might happen upon this physical manuscript in a bookshop or library?" I have also used Marisa Olsen, “Postinternet: Art After the Internet” (2011).
