Limitation
From Introduction to Electronic Literature
Oren Soffer states in The Oral Paradigm and Snapchat that "Orality is a significant theme in the field of communication" (1).
Snapchat is instant.
It presents communication like half-assed thoughts, unfinished and nonchalant.
it is so much easier to say what you want when the words don't remain.
screenshots are cheating- they're against the rules.
the medium itself is playful. no one can deny it. words have less weight over 'snap.' it turns communicaiton into a game.
it works because it is quick and casual, like most of our human interactions.
that is why it is comfortable for us.
the quickness of the words makes it that much easier to walk away from awkwardness.
the photos too, disappear quickly. in fact, the resolution is strategically decreased.
to make things quick.
everything can be gone. in the snap of a finger.
