Social media has developed so fast during the years, it is presenting the public nowadays with a whole new set of art forms that could never exist before.

After reading the article “Art After Social Media”, I have noticed a total cyber revolution that challenges our traditional definition of art. First of all, authorship, an almost inseparable element in the discussion of art-piece has gradually lost its significance with the huge stream of data online, anonymity or “nicknaming” seems to be the norm on internet. As a matter of fact, people are often encouraged to create a persona on social media as an expression of one’s inner self, sometimes authors incorporate the message of the art piece with the alias they’ve chosen, so that the “names” of authors are also part of the piece. So instead, on social media, the identity of authors became less important than the brand or the impact such artists have upon the others. Secondly, the format of social media allows for a greater creative space for artists. The logic behind social media presents a platform for randomness and mystery that captures the empheriality in human thoughts, which partially explains why something like the twitter account “Horse-ebooks” could have a follower of over 14.8K by generating millions of “incomprehensible” texts.
