x7tu7ps^ final project[edit]

For my final project, I've been thinking a lot about what it means to turn text or poem into a hypermediate experience. I am drawing inspiration from works such as "My Boyfriend Came Back from the War," "Blert," and e.m-bed.de/d. I also loved Hannah Black's "My Bodies," the different works that utilize stock video, and the way that Tracie Morris' stunning poem was enhanced by newspaper imagery. As far as form, I want to create a hypermediate environment on my own computer screen that will involve original text, stock video and found imagery. I will use a program to screen-capture this video as I lay it out on my screen, and then edit several different screen compositions together to create a cohesive work and video that will simulate a computer screen. As far as content, I want to use both fictional creative text and real life texts, fragmented lines of poetry that I've written and very old tweets. I want to focus on love and heartbreak, fragmentation and resilience. The idea is far from finished, but I'm looking forward to experimenting with both form and content.
