The first of many course-collaboration Edit Publications— WOODSLIPPERCOUNTERCLATTERTRANSCRIPT is a representative sample of dozens of publishing experiments conducted as pedagogical exercises in a hybrid critical/creative educational studio practice.
This full-color publication was created collectively with students in my “21st-Century Creative Writing: Poetry, Technology, Art” course at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2014.
We wrote the book as a collective transcription of a live performance of WOODSLIPPERCOUNTERCLATTER by Susan Howe and David Grubbs. All our notes were taken during the performance: glimpses of words and hallucinations of phrases. These notes were shuffled and anonymized, maintaining privacy as a default. The resulting Edit Publication was freely distributed to all participants at the end of the semester.
